Frequently asked questions
Do establishments in India accept cards?
Yes! Most hotels, restaurants, and shops accept cards, but smaller places still prefer cash. Keep some rupees handy — cash points from major banks like ICICI, HDFC, Kotak, and Axis are everywhere, and most international cards work fine. Top hotels like the ITC even have cash points in-house.
How do I get phone/data connectivity?
International roaming can be pricey. We highly recommend downloading an eSIM, which is cheap, reliable, and can be activated in minutes from home. Is there Wi-Fi at the airport?
Yes, though UK numbers sometimes don’t receive the login code, so simply ask the help desk for a free Wi-Fi voucher code. But for the sake of convenience, we would still strongly recommend an eSIM and printing your flight ticket in advance.
Will I need plug adaptors?
Yes, India uses different plug points to the UK and other countries (round pins). Carry an international adaptor if you plan to charge phones or laptops. Many large hotels like the ITC have universal sockets, but smaller ones may not.
