Helen & Boris
February 16-19, 2026 | Goa, India
Our story
It all started in January 2019. Boris was four months into a new job at JustPark — a place that felt less like Silicon Valley and more like a chaotic frat house with laptops. Amid the dysfunction, news spread that a few new joiners were arriving, and that’s when Boris first saw Helen — quiet, big shiny eyes, taking in the office with calculated caution. To Boris, it was “like being struck by a thunderbolt”, as they say in his favourite film, The Godfather.
The first interaction — not one for the romance books. Company tradition dictated that everyone send a “welcome” GIF to new starters. Boris, for reasons still unclear, chose a GIF of Pennywise the clown waving a bloodied, severed arm. Not exactly love at first sight.
"Each night when the day is through, I don't ask much, I just want you."
Undeterred, he began a series of slightly doomed attempts to talk to her, starting with the watercooler — Boris rushing over to “casually” fill his bottle before Helen could, only to blurt out “Oh sorry! Didn’t realise you were standing there!” and receive a confused look in return. Then there was the meeting where he was meant to present a feature he’d designed to Helen's team — which in his mind was really just a chance to (unsuccessfully) make eye contact with her. And finally the cinematic moment in a long, empty corridor during a team social — the kind of scene where sparks should fly — except Helen walked straight past (or through) Boris without a glance.
Weeks later at the office, a notification popped up: "Helen McNulty". This was it! Boris opened the chat, ready for witty banter… only to read, “Hi Boris, the feature you designed doesn’t seem to be working. Can you check the issue?” Romance, it seemed, was still on hold.

Fast forward to the 1st of May. Another team social loomed, and Boris decided this was his final attempt. If it didn’t work, he’d leave it at that. At The Well & Bucket pub in Shoreditch, he spotted Helen, “criminally attractive,” as he put it — and seized his chance. His opening line? A comment about her “resting bitch face”. Strangely, it worked. Soon they were chatting through the evening — about her recent trip to Sri Lanka, about music, films, and anything else they could think of. Things were going so well, Boris even called his best mate to join them.
A few days later, Boris asked Helen out for a drink. To his shock, she said yes — so much so that he’d forgotten to make himself available that evening. Thankfully, she gave him another chance, and on the 10th of May, during a gathering at Bounce (the ping-pong place in Farringdon), Boris messaged Helen: “Do you fancy some ping-pong?” She agreed… unaware she’d be walking into a group of ten people, including Boris’ dad.

"I loved you six summers now, but I want 'em all."
Helen, who’s famously shy, took it in stride — even when Boris’ dad secretly took a photo of them chatting by the bar and WhatsApped it to Boris while they were still standing there! That was their first photo that later became an illustration gifted by Helen’s best friend — the first of many small, hilarious moments in their story.
From there, it just worked. Legend has it that Boris met Helen’s family and won over her dad by accidentally polishing off an entire bottle of Port and making it to work sober the next day. Helen similarly won over Boris’s family instantly — especially Boris' nephew and niece!
And so somewhere between awkward GIFs, missed glances, and ping-pong with strangers, they found their rhythm, or as Rihanna might put it, they’d “found love in a hopeless place”! Now, six years and countless laughs later, they’re ready to celebrate with all of you, surrounded by the families they’ve grown to love.
